10. Keep marketing consent separate from acceptance of the purchase terms. Do not require customers to consent to marketing in order to complete checkout, and honor unsubscribe/opt-out requests free of charge.

Do not publish the sentence “Our Site sells Personal Information” unless counsel has confirmed that this accurately describes the store’s practices under the relevant definition. Use Shopify’s region-aware terminology and opt-out tools instead.
